Terms

These terms cover ifPOV, the iPhone app and ifpov.com (“we”, “us”). By signing in or playing, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. You must be at least 13.
No tolerance for objectionable content or abuse
ifPOV is for everyone. Don't make, type or upload anything sexual or nude, hateful, harassing or threatening, anything that targets a real person, promotes self-harm or crime, or is spam. A safety check turns much of it down, and we remove stories that break these rules and close the accounts of players who do, without warning.
Reporting and blocking
Every story page lets you report the story or block the player who made it. Blocked players' stories stop showing up for you. We look at every report within 24 hours and remove what breaks these rules.
Your stories
A story you make is public: anyone can play it, under your username. You keep what you wrote, and you let us host, show and adapt it so it can be played. Stories are written by AI as they're played, so they can get things wrong or go somewhere unexpected; they're fiction. Stories set in existing worlds are unofficial fan stories, not made or endorsed by those worlds' owners.
Only make or upload what you have the right to. When you make a story, create a character or upload a picture, you promise it's yours or you have permission, and that it doesn't infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or likeness.
Copyright complaints
We respect creators' rights and follow the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe something on ifPOV infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act for, email copyright@ifpov.com with:
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- a link to the story, character or picture on ifPOV that you want removed;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, their agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or are authorized to act for its owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We remove or disable the material and let the player who posted it know. If something of yours was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to use it, send a counter-notice to the same address with your name, address and phone number, the material that was removed and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the US, any district where we can be found) and to accept service from the person who complained, and your signature. Unless they tell us they've gone to court, we may restore it after 10 business days. We close the accounts of players who infringe repeatedly. For trademarks, a person's likeness or other rights, write to the same address.
Your account
Keep your sign-in to yourself; you're responsible for what's done with your account. You can delete it at any time (in the app, Me, then Delete account), and we can suspend it if you break these terms.
ifPOV Unlimited
Free accounts get a number of turns a day. ifPOV Unlimited is a monthly subscription that removes the limit. It renews automatically until you cancel: in the app, through your Apple account's Subscriptions settings (at least 24 hours before it renews); on the website, from your account page. Purchases in the app are also covered by Apple's standard license agreement.
As it is
We work to keep ifPOV running and safe, but it's provided as it is, without guarantees, and to the extent the law allows we aren't liable for indirect losses from using it. We may change ifPOV or these terms; if the terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app or on the site.
